Ladybirds

Welcome to Ladybirds! We are a class of 13.  Mrs Eaton is the class teacher and Stuart, Becky and Robyn are our lovely teaching assistants.  Kirsty teaches us on a Friday.  Ladybirds have P.E on a Tuesday morning. Please send the children already dressed in their P.E kits for this. Ladybirds follow the Seedlings pathway.

Spring 2

This half term our topic will focus on Birmingham and the UK. We will introduce the children to the characters Paddington Bear and Peppa Pig and the places they live and have visited. This topic is closely linked to the EYFS 'Understanding the World' area of learning.

Spring 1

In our Spring 2 topic Ladybirds enjoyed learning all about Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.  We particularly enjoyed our 'Let's Connect' where we visited other classes to see their Snow White themed rooms, which we then explored!

Autumn 2

In Autumn 2 our topic was 'A Victorian Christmas'.  We explored events from the past based around 'A Victorian Christmas'. We also created Victorian-themed items to sell at our Christmas Fair.

Ladybirds looked at how Victorian's lived and used our own experiences to compare.  Our topic book was 'Pip and Posy The Christmas Tree'.

Autumn 1

During the first 2 weeks we spent our time getting to know each other and our new environment and making new friends and relationships. Our topic was 'Painters'.  We read the story 'Beautiful Oops' which is all about looking and exploring art and materials in our environment.

Look at all the lovely things we have experienced so far in the Autumn Term...

Proud to be me week

Ladybirds have enjoyed settling into school and the new experiences that come with this.

We enjoyed our first Jo Jingles session and soft play, and we were also visited by a harpist who played us classical and Disney music!

Read Write Inc (RWI)

In Ladybirds this is how we teach letters and sounds through our Read, Write Inc program.

Please take a look at some of the handy parent RWI videos on YouTube:

The first set of sounds we teach/expose the children too are: m a s d t. These are called our speed sounds.
Once we recognise these sounds, we develop our Word Time and blend these sounds together to read words mad, sad, sat, at.

It is important to remember that all children learn at different rates. Some children work in a small RWI group developing their letter and sound understanding whilst some are exposed to the letter sounds through their daily Attention Autism lesson.
