We are a lower school class in the Seedlings Pathway with 8 children in the class. We will be focusing on the areas of Physical Development, Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication, Literacy, Mathematics, Expressive Arts & Design and Understanding of the World.

Our class teacher in Woodpeckers is Miss Evans and our amazing teaching assistants are Marie (level 3 TA), Dean, Hollie, Omar and Erika. Kirsty will be teaching Woodpeckers on a Thursday morning whilst Miss Evans is working out of class. Sadia helps us at lunchtimes and is always happy to see us.

Woodpeckers will have a Jo Jingles music session every Friday afternoon and forest school every Thursday. We will have PE on a Thursday afternoon and a Wednesday morning. Every day Woodpeckers will do Attention Autism, Tac Pac, Theralympics and Communication sessions. We will also spend some time working on our EHCP targets throughout each session.

Summer 1.

Welcome to Summer 1! This half-term we are focusing on Food and Food from Birmingham. Our weeks are going to be split to be based around different types of food. The first two weeks will be focused around fruit and vegetables. The third week will be Indian foods and spices. The fourth week will be take-away foods and then fish and chips, finishing on fruit and vegetables again. During this half-term we will also have a Do and Discover week, which is really exciting. Our class story will be 'Kitchen Disco' which is based around lots of fruit having a party in the kitchen.

Woodpeckers are really excited about this next half-term and diving into tasting, smelling and trying a different range of foods.

I will continue to keep you all updated via Class DoJo :)

Spring 2.

Welcome to Spring 2, our topic this half-term is Birmingham and the UK. As a class, we will be focusing on the Paddington bear story.

Paddington bear will be our class story for the next 5 weeks, as well as an Easter-themed day in the final week. Paddington will be going to different areas of the UK each week. Week 1 will be Birmingham, week 2 will be London, week 3 will be the seaside, week 4 Paddington will be back in Birmingham! Our final week will be focused around Easter activities and crafts.

Woodpeckers are really excited about this story and the adventures that we will all be going on during this half-term!

I will continue to keep you all updated via Class DoJo :)

Spring 1.

Welcome to Spring 1, our Topic and focus this term is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

As a class, we will be focusing on different parts of this story over the next five weeks; the characters, the plot and the different emotions and feelings behind the Dwarves' names. The Woodpeckers class team are really excited about this story.

At the end of the next half-term, we will be inviting our families into school and displaying our classroom as a 'snoozy' room as part of the Seedlings project.

I have also attached the class homework sheet for the term.

I will keep you all updated through class Dojo of what we get up to each day! :)
