Welcome back to Summer Term 1 in Bumblebees! We are continuing to learn about Birmingham and the UK, but this term with a focus on food. We will be teaching lots of important life skills such as hygiene, food shopping and, within the kitchen area, how to safely prepare and cook food. At the end of the half-term, we will be working towards turning our classroom into a restaurant and inviting parents and carers into school to be served by the children, so look out for further information on this.

Our book for this term is Room on the Broom Cook Book. We will learn about different recipes, write our own recipes, weigh the ingredients, taste different foods and cook the foods within class or in the cooking room. These activities will cover a variety of skills and allow the children to achieve their goals in the curriculum of woodland's pathway.

Our wow day was an educational trip to the Think Tank. Bumblebees had so much fun!

Spring Term 2 summary: It has been a very busy short half-term. The children have been exploring maps and directions in topic, as well as transport. Bumblebees have been learning all about their city of Birmingham and where it is on the UK map. In English, we have been looking at extension of sentences and how we can do this. Also continuing with colourful semantic's and sensory writing. In science, they have been learning about the human body. When exploring the senses, Mrs Fountain came to join us, and she got to smell smelly socks. The children thought this was so funny!
